Relationships & Social
How we experience closeness, trust, and connection in relationships is one of the longest-studied topics in social psychology. Attachment theory describes recurring patterns here -- for example, how strongly someone experiences fear of loss, or how comfortable someone feels with emotional closeness.
The ECR-R measures exactly these two dimensions (attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance), while the UCLA Loneliness Scale captures the subjective feeling of loneliness -- independent of how many social contacts actually exist. Both constructs are tendencies, not fixed categories, and can change over time and with different relationship experiences.
